Picnic Moment
App

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is my Picnic Moment data stored?
Picnic Moment uses local SwiftData storage by default. This means your journal content is stored on your current device by default.
Premium users can enable iCloud sync in Settings. When enabled, the app attempts to sync data through Apple's iCloud/CloudKit services on the next launch. Picnic Moment does not operate its own cloud journal database.
Why did iCloud sync not take effect immediately?
iCloud sync settings take effect on the next app launch. Please check that:
- You are a Premium user.
- iCloud sync is enabled in the app.
- iCloud is available in system settings, and Picnic Moment is allowed to use iCloud.
- You have reopened the app.
If system iCloud is unavailable, the app may use local storage based on your “keep local data when iCloud is disabled” setting.
How do I export my data?
In the app, go to Settings, open “Data & Storage,” and choose “Export All Data.” The app generates a JSON backup file that may include profile data, settings, records, media, voice notes, drawings, location, weather, health/activity summaries, and music information.
Treat backup files as sensitive files. Do not send them casually or upload them to places you do not trust.
How do I import a backup?
In the app, go to Settings, open “Data & Storage,” and choose “Import Records.” Import supports only JSON backup files exported by Picnic Moment.
Importing records does not overwrite current data, profile data, or settings. Duplicate records are skipped.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, go to Settings, open “Data & Storage,” and choose “Clear All Data.” This permanently deletes user profiles, records, drafts, related media resources, and content-related temporary leftovers on the current device.
Settings, notifications, and Premium entitlement state are preserved. We recommend exporting a backup before deleting data.
If you enabled iCloud sync, also check your system iCloud status because sync and deletion behavior may be affected by Apple iCloud/CloudKit.
Why does Picnic Moment need Photos permission?
Photos permission is used to import photos, videos, and Live Photos. You can grant full access, limited access, or deny access in system settings. Denying Photos permission does not affect plain text journaling.
Why does Picnic Moment need Location permission?
Location permission is used to record places and fetch weather when you enable related features. Picnic Moment does not use location data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Why does Picnic Moment need Health permission?
Health permission is used to read activity, workout, and State of Mind data that you choose to import. Picnic Moment currently uses HealthKit as a read source and saves imported content as your journal entries.
Why does Picnic Moment need Apple Music permission?
Apple Music permission is used to import recently played items, library songs, albums, playlists, and search music content. You can deny Apple Music permission and still use the basic journal features.
Are voice transcripts uploaded to a server?
The current voice transcription implementation requires on-device recognition and does not fall back to network recognition. During transcription, the app writes a temporary local file and removes it after recognition finishes.
How do I restore a Premium purchase?
Use “Restore Purchases” on the Premium or Gallery-related screen. Purchases, refunds, billing, and subscription status are managed by Apple App Store.
If restoration fails, first check that you are using the same Apple ID used for purchase and that your App Store subscription is active.
Can I hide the app preview in the background?
Yes. You can enable app preview hiding in Picnic Moment privacy-related settings. When enabled, the app uses blur/masking when it becomes inactive or enters the background to reduce preview leakage risk.
How do I report a privacy issue?
Email support@picnicmoment.com and include “Privacy” in the subject line. If your request involves export, deletion, or permission settings, include your platform and app version.
